The Philadelphian - Salt Lake

I went to The Philadelphian during my lunch break at work with part of my team. We went because it's one of my coworker's favorite places. He gets the philadelphia burger, which is a few burger patties on a sub.

The building looked like a regular restaurant from the outside. It was a little shop that was part of a marketplace. The inside was a little bit dark, but clean. It was very plain inside, kind of like how I expect an old cafe in Philadelphia to look. The Sandwich artists were tough guys with big beards and a rough look. One of them had gauges in his ears. They looked like the kind of people that are serious about cooking good food.

I ordered the pastrami, like usual, and they brought it to my table. I got an 8 inch sandwich, but there were options to order smaller and very large sandwiches. For a regular sized sandwich, it had a lot of meat between the buns. The bread was very white and on the dryer side. It had hardly any flavor on its own, but was able to absorb some from the meat juice. I put all the toppings I could on my sandwich, including the hot peppers. The hot peppers were diced and were significantly spicier than I expected. They had a really good flavor though. They created a delicious flavor harmony with the pastrami. The pastrami was the highlight of the show, like it should be. It was the most flavorful and tasty pastrami I've had on one of these sandwiches so far. The other toppings were good as well. The sandwich filled me up but didn't leave me feeling bloated.
